Kate Sonnet

I took a class called Drama. In this class, we discussed the play the taming of the shrew, which is a play written by Shakespeare. In the play, there are a few main characters that we follow along the way and later need to write a sonnet about. For this class, we have not gone on any FE's but hopefully, this will change soon. For this action project, we needed to choose a character from the book to talk about. I chose Kate because I feel that she was oppressed by her husband. We also had to incorporate at least four vocab words from the actual play.

Kate Sonnet

Kate, you used to speak your mind/share your thoughts
You used to be what we would now call, strong
Now you have submitted to be a bot
You need to know that Petruchio’s wrong

You used to shrill and scream and be a shrew
Petruchio said that you he could tame
A “good” wife is what he turned you into
He did it by playing so many games.

Kate look at life from a different view
Life should not be taketh by a husband
Tush Kate, you must heed, people get through
You need to leave, yes leave this fiend running

“Come on, and kiss me, Kate” he determined
You need to make this man your ex-husband

Words from the play:
Petruchio’s
taketh
heed
Tush
fiend

Quote from the play:
“Come on, and kiss me, Kate”

In conclusion, I actually had a hard time writing this because it was difficult for me to find good words that had the proper number of syllables and sounded good. On the other hand, I had an easier time finding the topic because I knew that Kate was being treated incorrect and that needed to change. In the end, I think the project turned out well.
