Final Presentation

Final Presentations this year are going to be interesting. In light of the current pandemic we are not in school due to worries that the virus would spread quicker if we were to continue. Instead of in school work we are doing what we would be doing anyway from home. For this final presentations we are working off of a guiding question that we come up with based off of one of our classes last term. I am working on a similar project to what we did for the class Equality were we created a news article that is in the perspective from 100 years in the future. For this project I decided to talk about how there is a financial gap between African American families and white families due to African American families getting a later start at making money which meant less time to invest and save.

How will the disparities between wealth accumulation in the African american community and the white community change in the future?

Where will racism be in 100 years?

This term I took a class called equality. In this class we talked about racism with American History as context. I thought this was a really interesting class because not only was I learning new things from the curriculum but I was also learning new things from my group of very diverse classmates. It was really interesting hearing about their stories and how these things have affected them personally. I gained a whole new perspective on this issue and it really makes you realize the depth of a situation that some people dont even think exists anymore.

RedBird Flies

We took a class called Social Entrepreneurship. In this class we have talked about different types of businesses and how they are all different. I really liked this class because I have always been interested in possibly becoming a business owner and this class really broke it down for me so that I could understand each aspect of it. In this class we took had one FE that really stood out to me. This was when we had the President of The Greenwood Project come in to talk to us about his mission and how he has run his company for the last couple of years. I really found him to be interesting since he didn't go to college until he was well into his career in the financial world. For this project we needed to create a business plan for a social business which means it helps the community and doesn't focus on income as the main goal.
